Nikon D700 reviewed I'm back from the dead with a review of the Nikon D700, a very impressive full frame digital SLR. Sorry for the delay -- when you're the only employee, things tend to grind to a halt when you go out of town and get sick in the same week!
PS -- Believe it or not, the flash didn't work on my D700, so the redeye test
will be added when I get a replacement camera.

Olympus announces E-30 digital SLR This may not be news to everyone, but today
Olympus announced their new E-30 digital SLR. This camera comes in-between
the E-520 and the flagship E-3, though its feature set and price lean more
toward the latter. Here are all the details:
FourThirds lens mount, with 2X focal length conversion ratio
Sensor-shift image stabilization
Supersonic Wave Filter dust reduction system
New TruePic III+ image processor
Live view (with contrast detect AF) on a rotating 2.7" LCD display (230k
pixels)
Large optical viewfinder with 1.02X magnification and 98% coverage
Full manual controls; shutter speed range of 60 - 1/8000 sec
Same fast, 11-point AF system as the E-3
Continuous shooting at up to 5 frames/second
New "art filters" let you take special effect photos using the
live view; options include Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light Color, Light
Tone, Grainy Film, Pin Hole Camera; these appear to be like scene modes,
with limited manual control
New multiple exposure mode lets you combine up to four exposures into one
New Multi Aspect features offers nine different aspect ratios
New level and pitch meters ensure properly composed photos
Built-in wireless flash support
CompactFlash Type I/II and xD Picture Card slots
Uses the venerable BLM-1 battery; 750 shots per charge (using the viewfinder)
Optional battery grip
Ships in January for $1299, body only
Along with the E-30 comes a new lens. The second generation F2.8-3.5,
14 - 54 mm Zuiko Digital lens' new features include support for contrast detect
AF and a circular aperture mechanism. It too will ship in January, with a
list price of $599.

Panasonic announces US pricing for Lumix DMC-G1 Panasonic has announced the US pricing of their Micro FourThirds camera, the
Lumix DMC-G1. The camera will ship in November, with an F3.5-5.6, 14 - 45
mm IS lens, for $799. You will also be able to buy an F4.0-5.6, 45 - 200 mm
IS lens separately for $349.
I'm expecting to get a final production model very soon, and will post the
review as soon as humanly possible. In the meantime, our preview is
still available.
